I'm installing a Pioneer AVH-p5700DVD and I can't figure out where to hookup this wire, maybe because it was 12 at night or something, lol but I can use some help, and also for the orange(illumination) wire i have one on the schose wiring connector, but not on the one provided with the HU,should i just cut the one orange wire off my stock harness and connect it to the orange one on the schose?

violet/white:

Of the two lead wires connected to the back lamp, connect the one in which the voltage changes when the gear shift is in the REVERSE postion.
Where do i hook this wire up to?thanks
BTW its a 03 mountaineer

illumination is pretty much a thing of the past with stereos.  your unit has a light sensor anyway, it will dim with the sun. i would cut the wire off. altho, that wire is nice to add LED's to your interior  if you like.

that violet/white wire is only to switch your screen to a backup camera when in reverse.  unless you plan on putting one on, i would leave it there.  do not cut it off completely, but cap it to avoid any problems.

if you plan on installing a backup camera, connect that wire to the switched side of the back up lights.  you will need a test probe, or you could ask a "friendly" local shop to tell you the location and color of the wire.

if you cannot find a friendly shop, e mail me and i will look it up.

The orage wire on this unit is used to dim the display at night. You should connect it to a +12 Volts when your parking lights are on. It is the brown wire at the headlight switch.

ya, depening on the car that illum. wire will become (+) 12 volts which could power anything when you turn the parking lights on.  possible relay (  you could use this to turn on under body lights or accents for night use)  email me for further instruction
