Hey everyone -
I need your advice on an Overhead DVD system for my new 2007 Tahoe. I was looking at Headrest Systems, but I think I am leaning towards an Overhead System. I will probably use a aux input adapter, but should I go with an all-in-one system or a monitor with stand-alone DVD. I am new to this stuff (in case you didn't already know that) so I could use lots of advice and guidance.
Thanks a million in advance.

The all in one systems are nice for the convenience. Putting a monitor overhead and then stuffing a dvd player under the seat or something is a bit old school, but it's still doable and will probably save you some money if you don't mind. The other nice part is if the DVD player goes out at some point, you could pick one up cheap for $100 or so and swap it out and be done. Obviously if the all in one goes you need to pull it and send it for repair or buy a whole new one.
Make sure you find an overhead big enough that will cover the domelight area. Basically you cut out that hump with the domelight and make it flat, but need something big enough to cover the hole. Audiovox also makes a custom console for that vehicle that installs quick. You'll also need a relay to power the TV as you won't find a useable switched power source in that truck.
It's really up to you but personally I would go with the all in one. Good luck

The Avox console is used only if you have overhead heater controls in the new Tahoe. If it doesn't you can CAREFULLY cut the hump out to fit the Avox stuff. It will fit and cover the hole but just barely. Also, you need to wire a relay for power as there are no good sources in the truck that are accessory above 2 amps. In all, it's an easy install compared to many we do...

Thanks Mike - the heater controls in ours our in the floor console by the rear seat radio control. I would scared to cut a brand new headliner right off the bat!! But, whatever keeps the kids happy.

We do a ton of Alpine PKG RSE 2's in the Tahoes,if you have a sunroof you will need to cut out the dome light hump pretty careful and you can flush mount the RSE real clean.  We have a power source we use for Ign without having to use a relay,,,

They make a console kit for the non heater vehicles to cover the spot where the hump was.

Been there done that, save the time and use the console. I would not recommend a beginner trying to pull that off without a console. Get the kit it literally takes a few minutes to install (for a pro) and gives you a bracket for a rock solid mount and a little bigger shroud.
