I guess this would be considered General, done searches for Expedition and Air Bags but it does not appear that anyone has asked this yet. I just purchased a 2008 Expedition XLT and started thinking of the side curtain air bags. I was an installer many years ago, heck I remember when install kits were all shaft and then DIN came out, then I built police cars and various other public safety rigs, air bags were more common but nothing side curtain.

Anyway, I plan to install a 3/4 hole mount (probably 2-3 of them) in the roof for GPS, Amateur Radio and Wireless Data antenna mounts. Usually this was a no brainer for me, make sure no cross member was in the way, drill it out with a hole saw made for exactly this purpose and fish the wire over to the side, never even dropped a headliner. Well I guess the game is different now, does anyone know the 08' Expedition XLT ? What do I have to be careful with ? How will the air bag, wiring, or even gas canisters get in the way with antenna cables, or power/audio/video if I put in an overhead DVD system for the 2nd row, or even 1st and 2nd row? Right now I do not even want to drop the headliner or mess with the pillar area (usually run wires down that way also) not knowing if I will be messing with fire in that area.

Also can anyone direct me to any Ford Expedition forums that are specific for electronics.

The only difference would be to make sure you don't run your wiring over the air bag. By over, I mean in front of it where, if it were to deploy, the wiring won't be affected. When doing this, just consider how it deploys and route your wiring accordingly.
