I am relocating my SEALED battery inside the car. I am trying to find out the correct way of choosing the fuse size for the positive terminal.  I know i need to put an inline fuse about 6inches off the positive terminal but what amp fuse do i use safely?

What size wire are you running to the starter?  What size wire are you running to the fusebox under the hood?

Well i purchased 4 gauge to run from the battery to the starter and fuse box. But i am reading i should use a 0 or 2 gauge.

So if i go with the 0 gauge from the battery to the distrubution block. Then run a 4 gauge to starter and a seperate 4 gauge to the fuse box, How do i fugure out the fuse size?

I was looking into a digital distribution block that displays amps and volts. It holds the ANL fuses which cost alot!

If you use 4 Ga. wire you need to fuse it at 150 amps.

Power & Ground Cable Specs
Cable Size
Wire Gauge      Current Capacity
Amperage (amps)
1/0      350
2      225
4      150
8      100
10      60
12      40
14      25
16      15

Wow 150amps seems high, looks like alot of people ran 100amp ANL fuse.

What is that based on, just wire size and how many amps from a 12 volt battery or what? How did they figure those numbers out?

Also, i am using a fused mini ANL distribution block under the hood. I decided to run a 1/0 gauge as my main. Then distributing it to two 4 gauge wires. One for starter one for fuse box.

How many amp should i get the mini ANL in? Each 4 gauge has its own mini ANL. I have no idea whats the amperage for the starter wire!

The chart lists the MAX fuse size you can use - if you arn't planning on pulling 150A from the battery there is no reason to use a fuse that big.
