when you turn your key into the "off" position in your cars ignition, exactly what all does it cut power to in order to shut the car off? does it just cut power to the coil? my car is a 79 Datsun 280ZX with Fuel Injection...very basic car with almost zero options...

In your case it will be the coil and the fuel injection. When you turn it off the switch turns off the power to the ignition sistem and the ecm(engine control module)
