sorry the formula is wrong it's actually I=E/R, I means amperage E means electro motor force R means resistance but I has to have a meaning other than amperage anyone knows please help.

I is current - Amperes

E is Voltage

R is Resistance

other than amperage I has a meaning, i haven't had any luck find out what i other than amps but is related to amps mean

My instructors said it was because A was used somewhere else in scientific notation. Or maybe it was latin. I think it's like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? The world may never know.

I was taught that the "I" comes from the German "intensitat" or "intensity", the word that was used for "current" at the time that Mr. Ohm was doing his experiments...
