i have a 2003 dakota. with the key in the ignition, but off,and headlights on, they flash rapidly.while running if any dash indicator lights come on, ie low fuel, ect. the head lights flash, slowly but they flash off and on. I tested the battery and it checked out ok, the guy at advanced auto suggested that a ground wire may be loose or off. any thoughts??

ground wire (ok),but it really sounds a little more serious .
I've seen very dim day-time running lights on fords and dodges due to failing DRL module, but flashing ???if you have any kind of after market accessories(mostly alarm/remote starter)that would be tied in the ignition/key sense circuit i would disconnect-it temporarly (a week or so) to find where the feedback comes from.I had an experience with a friend (now)in a 2006 dodge ram,he had a similar issue and it was the remote starter parking lights circuit (feeding back) and shutting off his head lights the ECM is very sensitive on the dodges be careful.
But check the plugs at the head lights for corrosion etc...
keep us posted.

I have no after-market accessories attached at all.
W/ ignition off and headlights on the interior lights flash rapidly.
Could all this be related to a HL switch?
