I have a remote starter/security system Hornet 476T FCC ID: EZSDEI475 2-66TH CODES
This is a four button fob with lock/unlock/aux/panic buttons - that's it
In the vehicle there is a red led indicator light a metal toggle switch, which I assume is a valet? and a small push button.
I'm having a problem now when I try to use the remote start function ( pressing the unlock & lock buttons ) the vehicle cycles, fuel pump buzzes and the truck starts and runs for about 5 seconds and then shuts off?? Not sure why it continues to shut down after 5 seconds?
Everything else seems to work correctly, lock/unlock is good. Just the remote start problem. I have no manual and can't find anything on directed's website for this model.
I have searched this post and see the 24 hour problems, but mine seems to be a 5 second problem LOL
Sure would appreciate any help from the experts - I bought the vehicle used and this is the first time this has happend. I'm guessing I pressed something I should not have or did something wrong when I programmed a new fob that I purchased. I have two now and both work fine, the truck just doesn't run on it's own when I use the remote start option.
Thansk much
Jeff
the button is the valet button. one thing you did not state which will help us help you is......year, make, model of the vehicle.

There is a button you push and a metal toggle switch. I am thinking the metal toggle switch is the valet because when I switch it - the remote does not work.
Sorry for the vehicle omission. Again, I'm only trying to diagnose why the remote start does not keep the engine running longer than 5 seconds.
Thanks
it sounds like you need to reprogram the tach signal. you will use the button for that proceedure. the button is the valet button. the toggle switch simply just disables the remote start from being activated.
Would you mind walking me through that procedure please?
Thanks
start the vehicle with the key
within 5 seconds press and HOLD the valet switch
the LED will light constant when the tach signal is learned
release the valet button
Also if by some chance you had to replace the ignition key cylinder recently - you will have to reprogram your Passlock bypass. Tach reprogram should be done first though exactly as ckeeler has described it.

For anyone else searching this post for help -
The above instructions did no good whatsoever. A bit-writer had to be used to reset the entire unit. Took about 1/2 hour at the shop to do it.
Everything is working fine now. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate the efforts. Good luck & happy holidays.
