Had yet someone else post today with an 05 Mustang with the usual issues. Any chance of listing the obvious FAQ's with a link to the answers? I can give you a few straight away....R/S with magic key, M/Benz etc,  Sleeper circuits and  DEI1076, what type of by-pass, tach sensing, factory alarm shutdown, key sense. Relays and diodes.Any one concur?

That would be good.  Especially if it lists some tips/tricks for some vehicles.

That would rely on people actually wanted to help themselves - who would do that when they can just ask the experts????  :)

Kevin you're so right, we have a question posted under  "absolute best alarm" in the security section,  I can't answer it because I haven't any access to the 900mhz long range stuff over here,  but the guy's got a 93 Accord,  got to be worth NOTHING,  he wants multiple sirens,  multiple sensors and soon he's going to make his choice,  try to install it himself,  get into trouble and drive us all mad.  Who'd want to steal a 93 Accord?

I saw that post and was thinking the same thing.  The alarm will be worth more than the car.

Not just worth more than the car,  I was thinking of all those sensors working against and interfering with each other.  Some years ago in the UK  we had the Concept 600, built in w/closers, wireless immobiliser and glass break and dual zone prox and tilt. The tilt was much better made than the current 507 series, it was Clifford not DEI,  the wireless immobiliser never gave any problems except when you installed it,  and as for the glass break, it triggered the bloody alarm as soon as the mic heard the outer zone going off.  Result, you had to turn it's sensitivity down to useless.  Seem, to remember a DEI product, Concept 450 with glass break and shock, I had to similarly juggle the sensitivities to make them work together.

i saw that too. and the thing is now matter how "good" of an alarm you think you have, or how many sensors (or any other crap you want to hook up to it, like the guy that wanted to rig up some sort of flame thrower, and KP suggested he just take off his wheeles every night and sit the car on its frame), any alarm is only as good as the installer who did the installation.

oh, unless of course Howie is installing some more of that wonderful flea-bay product in which he has to just rip it all out and start fresh again. in that senario then the install is better than the alarm, my bad.

So he's got the brain in,  how do I wire the different sensors?  What's Tach?  I've got sirens under each seat, the battery's gone flat 'cause I've wired the relays and the coil's latched on.  How do I wire the window lifters?  Come to think of it didn't the antenna have a relay from the trunk switch so it wouldn't raise when the trunk was open like the Camry? The rover 600 was the same car with different engine,  grille and badge,  that had a 6" antenna lead with a VW type plug, nasty. I seem to remember the ignition amplifier was dicey on them as well.

Coming back to this there are some posts today which cry out for the usual comments such as "test"  or "refer to vehicle wiring on this site" etc or a rather acidic coment such as should you be attempting this, one trying to find the trunk release, I feel like posting "have you thought of looking for the switch and testing?" These questions are so basic I was rather gob-smacked!
