Howdy... Brandt from Kentucky here...

I am attempting the fairly delicate operation of replacing the battery in my 2nd generation iPod (yes, I know, not really 12 volts and alternators and suchlike, but hear me out).

I have the option of purchasing a battery with a higher amp rating, something like 2000 mA compared to 1800 mA.  My question has to do with the seeming benefits of this "upgrade."  What exactly am I getting with this increase in current?

Thank you.  Best, Brandt

I guess you would get a little longer reserve capacity(amount of time til ipod goes dead)Although i do not know anything about replacing battery's in I-pods or know the benefits/downfalls of upgrading battery

When you order the battery, order a couple of them.  I have not found any of the aftermarket batteries that come close to holding up as well as the OEM battery.
