Im in the middle of building my first buggy and I have no clue about wiring? Im glad I found this site and hope someone can help. the picture is what i have set up now and it wont crank. I attached the link cause it wont upload my pic. it is a 58' flat six with an alt. put on it. i have a ign switch and sol and coil set up. please let me know if i have any wires crossed or missing something thank you

Definitely a weak ground associated with the 2nd red wire.
Have you checked its impedance?

sorry it will crank over but kinda sounds weak and i dont know if its getting spark. it wont run. here is something i just found im gonna try out. does it look ok

What is the 1 or I position on the solenoid for (from the coil)?
Why not remove it?
With ignition on (and in the start/crank position), the coil should spark if you gnd & break the "-" wire to the distributor. The HT out of the IgCoil should go to an grounded splug (spark plug) for this, else have the HT lead about 5-10mm from grounded metal, though without electronics etc it is unlikely that damage will occur to a "free air" dizzy.
Check if you have spark & we'll go from there.
PS - How well does it turn over with all splugs removed?

well it seem to crank over good with spark plugs removed and i put spark plug to metal and got no spark. i didnt take wire off the sol to the coil though

Remove the coil+ to solenoid wire - unless you know what it is for.
Keep the splugs out.
With +12V to coil+ and only ONE lead to coil- that you touch and remove from metal/ground, is there spark? (Again, preferably with the coil HT lead plugged in an terminating to a splug with grounded body, else end of HT lead held off grounded metal by ~1/4".)
If not, the coil is faulty else the system is not grounded.
If there is spark, you can do the same test with the coil+ going thru the ballast resistor to test the resistor. Hopefully there isn't too much spark energy change.
Note that ballast resistors are usually bypassed during engine starting, and the igcoil should survive ~10-15 minutes without it (if the ballast resistor is required for points etc, the igcoil may eventually overheat without it. Modern vehicles do not use ballast resistors (and since the current-limiting ignitors from the mid-1980s have become very rare indeed).
