Hi,

I'm using a 1UF capitor to create a 1/2 second pulse for my keyless entry system. I was only able to find a 50 volt cap. Will this do any damage if i'm using this cap to power to my keyless entry system after I remove switched power to it?

I don't think it would be a problem.  50 volts is its maximum charginig voltage.

great.......i don't know alot about caps or resistors......or anything electrical......so what your saying is the voltage that you send into the cap determimes the voltage that's sent out of the cap so no matter what the value of the cap it will still be 12 volts?

correct. the voltage into the cap is actually determined by the entire circuit.  A capacitror opposes the flow of current, which is what causes the time delay.  The time delay is caused by the amount of time it takes the capacitor to charge and discharge.  It doesn't create or change the voltage.
