I just heard someone say to make sure to fuse the power wire from alternator to battery.  Is that necessary and what size fuse should you use if the alt is a 200+ amp alt...?

I'm thinking he prob. meant the battery wire to amp or whichever accessory you have next inline.

Never heard of anyone fusing that line. Even in the high amperage draw vehicles we build. Fuse everything downstream of the battery or ignition though.

besides your car will probably already have a fuse for that line, mabyee one for "batt" that might be equivlent to the old alternator output (ie in my acura i have a 90 amp alternator and a 100 amp fuse)  if you increase the alternator, you might want to find that fuse and make sure its ok to handle the increased output (ie if I went to a 135amp alternator I would need to replace that fuse with a 140 or so amp fuse to protetct the battery......just look for the right fuse, depending on your car its probably under the hood or somewhere like that and it would say battery or alternator and should roughly corespond to amperage output of the alternator.....

I have NEVER, lemme repeat that in BOLD, NEVER seen a car with a fuse inline between the battery and the alternator...that line should not be fused...

can anyone tell me why the hell you would fuse that line???

Im with Big Purds on that, no need to fuse b/t the alternator and the battery.
