So any opinions on if this should affect the automobile world seriously? Locally 80% of our vehicles are from the Japanese. There's been a slight hike in vehicle costs and toyota locally are taking orders now for new vehicles saying there's a shortage.

We were told supply of certain brand products (based in Japan) will be limited or reduced.......but most of those product are built elsewhwere in the orient. I can accept that the processing of paper work in Japan will be greatly hindered. Although, Toyota's right hand drive cars are probably built there.....left hand drive could be made up at other plants for some models. Hate to thing someone is just taking advantage of this just to make more $$$$, but it is the Amer...........
CNN? has done wonders for iodine pill makers.
Actually for most markets, the smaller models, Yaris, Corolla, (Auris in Europe) are made in the UK or Hungary, ditto Nissans and Hondas, one town in Wiltshire survives on Honda and Mini, Derby in the East Midlands survives on Toyota and Rolls Royce aero engines. Having said that many components still come from Japan, virtually all the world's screen wash pumps are made by Nippon-Denso.
