How do you know the correct amperage rating of the diode, for each job. In my instance I need the rating for seperating two sensors. Proximity and shock. Will any rating work, I am thinking to use a 1 amp?

Also is the votage a concern?

Thanks

Use a 1N4001 1 amp diode rated at 50 watts. If this is not enough ( which you will be able to tell because the devices will not work properly ) then wire another 1 amp diode in parallel.

Thanks Velocity Motors,

I purchased 200watt diodes, would it be a problem to use these with the sensors. The guy at radio shack was not very helful, he recommended the 200watt silicone 1 amp diode.

Thank you kindly,

The diodes I pruchased were 1N4003 micromini Silicon Diode (200v*1amp)

Would this work or should I exchange out for the 1N4003 50V, also should these be on both sensors?

Thanks,

Use the ones that you purchased. Like I said, if the blocking amperage is not enough for the sensors, you can wire another diode in parallel and have 2 amps of blocking diodes on the wire.
