Not new to anything other than these forums----hope not to embarrass myself...........

1) Looking for recommendations on terminal tools that might be useful removing or re-positioning factory wires in wiring harnesses. I'm working on an '03 Ford E250 and would like to change a few things to suit myself. Price isn't the object but full coverage to deal with most situations is very important, cheap for just cheap's sake isn't my goal. Have already searched Lisle, Snap On and even FleaBay but not sure which is my best choice. (I already have the proper ratcheting crimping tools with various die sets to cover most automotive-style terminals.)

2) Anyone know where to find the black tape with no adhesive that's common in automotive wiring harnesses?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

1)Snap-On do a wallet kit that seems to work, a pal has had one for a few years and likes it.
2)Any motor factor, "non-adhesive looming tape".

PS, Amp (Amphenol, Tycho), Molex and Kramm in Denmark either make or licence out virtually every connector made world-wide.
Contact them or Ford for terminal tools.

Thanks guys----I found the tape on FleaBay---$11 shipped for a 3/4 x 250' roll!

Still looking for a nice terminal extractor set. Found a few exclusive to Europe by Wiha and an unknown outfit but its not clear if they'd be suitable for the Ford connectors. I might have to do a bit of forensic disassembly to see just exactly what I need.

Still open to any tool suggestions!

Don't buy anything from Europe unless they guarantee it will work on US sourced Fords, fine if it were a Fiesta/Focus/Fusion/Edge or Taurus, most of these are Euro designed with Mazda designed or UK Ford sourced engines but yours is definitely US, I've never seen one apart from the odd F150 or Lightning grey import.

Oh, no I won't buy anything from or intended for European cars---need to concentrate on Ford more than anything truthfully. Oddly enough most tools I've found via Google or FleaBay searches seem to be more focused on the European stuff, little mention made of Ford.

I'd love to find a list of Ford factory recommended terminal tools---their Rotunda program surely sells such specialized tools to their dealers?

I've found a 19 piece Master Set from Steelman Tools (obvious Chinese stuff!) but at $80 it seems to cover a lot terminals---that might be the way to go. Cost isn't the issue but its tougher finding specific tools needed to service typical Ford connectors and terminals.

I thought the Snap-On/Bluepoint kit was pretty good, also please try Sears Automotive, don't laugh, their "Craftsmen" products are top quality I have a constant shopping list for friends/family going to the US.

Also, if you get a chance look at the UK RS components site, connectors section insertion/extraction and crimp tools for AMP-Tycho, Molex etc, also Farnell and Mouser in the US are similar.

Howie I appreciate your input!

Being quite unfamiliar with this type tooling naturally I'd fall under the "more is better" syndrome which partially explains why I'm somewhat confused over the Snap On TT600 kit as compared to the larger number of tools I've found for not much more cost than the Snap On kit.

I might need to disassemble a few different types connector housings and see if that gives me a better idea which individual tools might be most helpful.

It's a matter of choice, most of my work involves 1/4" drive, all my sockets and all ratchets bar one are Snap-On, better fit, longer lasting and stronger.
I prefer Stanley screwdrivers, and I use a lot of Craftsmen tools.
As you say though these other kits have more "bits" so that might make the difference.
I can buy a Snap-On small 4 piece pick set for about $20, I've seen equivalent tools unknown brand for $5, they lasted me about a month before either bending or breaking.
Even the MAC equivalent isn't as good.

After talking with several trusted mechanics I decided a Steelman 19 Piece Master Terminal Tool Kit #95978 was a good starting point. Found it for $79 shipped to my front door. Here 'tis:

As I become more familiar with it I'll report back in case anyone else is looking for something similar.

Thanks again all!
