I'm installing a 2.3l turbo from a 88 t-bird into an 85 ranger that had a regular 2.3l carborated engine. The problem i'm having is how to hook up the fuel system. i was thinking on using an inline fuel pump and using a fuel filter that has a return line to it. The basic problem is how to hook it up. do i put the filter before the pump or after it? if it is after the pump wont it cause problem with the return flow?

Since the return flow is independent of the supply, no.
And the filter is before the pump, though I have a 2nd before the carby just as engines with EFI do for the injectors.
Make sure you have a suitable pump - eg, progressive pressure if its a push thru or injectors, and HP filters & lines to suit.

But try a car forum instead - unless you have a 12V turbo.
