I have a Weller GT7A Soldering gun and I'm getting tired of replacing $50-60 tips. Being in the market for possibly a new solder gun/iron, I was wondering what everyone else uses.

I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage

I use Weller Pyropen and Pyropen Jnr. I'm out mobile so no house voltage stuff for me.
Yes they burn up the tips and I MUST use Purified butane, they hate the winter, I have to warm up the reservoir before using!
BUT they solder faster and better than anything else around!
I average about two new every 18 months, out 4-5 days a week on R/S with security and track and immobilise.
For auto use, if I was back in a workshop I'd go back to Weller guns.
BTW ROHS murders solder tips, I still use leaded. I shouldn't but I "retired" 3 years ago and I have COPD so it's too late for me.

Weller SP40. Inexpensive..under $25, replacement tips available. Tip has sufficient mass to retain heat allowing large gauge multiple connections in rapid succession. Keep tip clean and out of the winter slop. Remove the tip and coat with anti-seize lightly, helps for when the tip wears out and needs to be removed.

Howie.....how fast do the heat up and how well does it solder large AWG ignition wires. I work mostly in house but interested in the pyro pen

I switched from an old WEN 199K 100/140 Watt gun to a HAKO FX-601 iron last year.  Tips cost $18, but I'm still on my first one.
I always clean & tin the tip after use.  It has adjustable temp and it reaches the set temp in less than 45 seconds.  Works well
on 12 gauge to 12 gauge joints and is small enough to get into tight places.  This was recommended by another installer
(Eric) for this site.    Absolutely no complaints.

Soldering is fun!

PTS, yes it does large ignition switch wires quite easily.
