Hello,

I am new to Hyundai. Previous I has been working with Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, etc. and all send out CAN Bus data whenever an event occurred (lock, unlock, door close/open, etc.). However when I tried to capture CAN data form Hyundai Elantra 2015, there is no data sent out when the engine is off for whatever events. I have tried to send any dummy message but no thing happen. It just sends data to CAN bus when engine is on. Do you have any reason on this or somehow can we trigger CAN bus to report current status when engine is off.

Thanks and looking forward to your help.

Regards,
Thanh

The CAN network work pretty much the same across all platforms, just different codes. How are you interfacing with the can network? What is the end goal? What are you installing? That vehicle has 2 CAN networks on it as well.

Thanks RS,

The final goal is to use my Can Bus hardware to capture Can data (whatever event occurred) when the engine is off. I am using my customized hardware that is based on MCP2515 - MCP2551 ICs. I set the baudrate to 500Kbps and attach to OBD port of Hyundai Elantra, however I only can capture data when engine is on, when it is off there is no data on OBD port at all. For other brand such as Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi the OBD port always output some Can data whenever events occurred (lock/unlock) even when engine is off. I dont care about CAN ID, just need to see output data.

Are there 2 CAN networks on Hyundai Elantra? Where can we attach to another one rather from OBD port?

Thanks

In this guide you will see where the second set of CAN wires are located.

Hello vtthanh83. I am trying to do the exact same thing as you and I wonder if you succeeded taping the second canbus network.

Yesterday I was able to dump data from the obd port but no matter what I did in the car it seems no suitable id was logged. So I couldn't reproduce any of my actions.

Do you mind exchanging information regarding this?

Thanks in advance,
Paulo
