Does anyone know what the three wires leading to the rear view mirror is in the 98 oldsmobile aurora.

One is BLACK/ white the other light green, and the last light pink.

I am assuming the black is ground the pink is ignition, and the green is...?

Thanks fellas,

Nick

The green is your reverse sense- it sends the mirror into a 'dipped mode' when you put the car in reverse. I *-think-* this is from the back up lamps relay, I'd have to check my SI2000 program to be sure.

So, I assume I was right as for the BLACK/ white and the Pink then?

Also in order to connect this to another car,  what would I connect the green to...? Or would I just keep it sisconnected?

If you could check this for me I would greatly appreciate it!

OK- the magic GM program says:
Position 1 (on the plug) 20ga pink ignition feed
Position 2               20ga lt green reverse sense
Position 3               20ga BLACK/ white ground
Position 4               20ga gray to left ext mirror
Position 5               20ga pink to left ext mirror
The green wire will connect to your backup lamps. The two
other wires- #4 & 5- you will not use, unless you are using the exterior mirrors from the Aurora. There was no info on the compass function, but I am going to bet it's self-contained, taking it's power and ground from the same pink and black. To use it however, it will need to be calibrated.

Ok, I am a little lost then. I called GM and they said the green wire was the temp wire? And that I needed to obtain the temperature sending unit (Thermometer) I am thinking now that  I have the unit that didn't have the temp. As the wire harness only has the three wires. But the mirror actual has the screen that indicates F or C.

So I would assume it's the same mirror, and the harness provides the various functions available. The copass is self contained, I dismantled the mirror to figure that out.
