Got a 2/12/75 amp battery charger/jump starter from work for free. Customer stated it wasn't charging properly. Return label said to throw in trash.

Doesn't look like it's had much use. Either that or it was well cared for. Have not tried the jump start setting. On the 2 amp trickle charge mode it seems to function normally. When put on 12 amp rapid charge, the transformer can be heard cycling on and off and the output voltage bounces back and forth, along with the charge level indicator.

Also FWIW, for some reason, the red "POWER ON" LED on the front never illuminates.

I'm going to open it up and inspect. Any ideas where I should start looking?

This is the exact charger I have. Many thanks in advance.

I would take it apart and check for simple things like connections that might have come off or connectors that are not seated well. It might have been a thing to where originally it worked but got jarred and something came loose.

I would also look close for any burnt components, possible cold solder joints, and such.
