Hey guys, I'm looking for some sort of times switch that applies power for x amount of time whenever I press and release a momentary switch. Only needs to be like 5-10 seconds. Thanks.
It would help if you provide more details on the application you are working on, including how much amps you need.
This is something I'm looking at:

So this is going to be wired into my patrol vehicle. Our shotgun/rifle racks have an electronic locking clasp. There is a momentary switch you have to press to release the latch but since its momentary it requires both hands. Not only that, but the location of the switch puts you in a very disadvantageous position to get to it. So what I'm wanting is a timed relay or switch to go between the mount and the momentary switch so that when I hit the momentary switch I have about 5-10 seconds to get it open so that I don't have to hold the momentary switch the whole time.
all you need is a relay and a capacitor in line to trigger the clasp. adjust the capacitor to get the time duration needed.. there are relay diagrams on this forum.. look in to the one for taking a pulsed turn signal for timed cornering lights.. same premise..

That will work but the TR12 would be much easier!!
Yeah I think I'm going the TR12 route. Seems easy enough and will probably come in handy for other wiring projects. I also found it on eBay for a few bucks cheaper than Amazon.
