hey,
i'm sure this goes out to everyone on here, when i say that, i LOVE installing car stereos, but I myself ain't an certified installer, i have looked over the MECP tests and stuff and it's really hard, i have done all my installs on all my own cars, and i have took them to the stereo shops and showed the installers and they said it looks professional and amazing, which is good, but, i know nothing about ohms law, diodes, transistors and equations and stuff like that, how can i be an installer....:p

get the MECP book and read... or get other books like the car audio cookbook. you can also read online tutorials and articles to learn more.
