Please forgive my ignorance. I have a little better than basic knowledge of 12v wiring and this one has me stumped. This is on an 06 Yamaha Rhino UTV. The previous owner tried to “fix” a short in the cooling fan circuit (more like butcher). I found the short, but completely rewired the circuit, but I wanted to wire in an override switch to turn the cooling fan on whenever I want to plus keep the thermoswitch in place for when I forget to turn it on. I’m using a 3 pole, 12v auto toggle switch with power input, accessory output and a ground for the led in the toggle switch. I’ve wired the toggle between the thermoswitch to bypass it when I want.

My problem: As soon as I hook the ground wire to the toggle switch and apply power to the circuit, pow! Fuse blows or wires melt. Unhook the ground wire and it works just fine. What gives? posted_image

Assuming you have it connected properly, it sounds like there's a short across the LED. If you have a multimeter with the diode check function, test the LED.
