Hi all! .  I am new to the group. I have a question, I bought a viper 550 on ebay. I found out that there is a problem because the viper550 esp was designed for an automatic transmission.is ther a way to overide this function so it will work on my 92 jeep wrangler with an automatic transmission?

Hey sterling54,

You said 92 jeep wrangler with an automatic transmission but I assume you meant manual tranny.

Guys will tell you that there is a way but nothing you will do that that system is safe nor legal.  Either install the alarm section only with an added on remote starter module for manuals or swap it for a manual alarm/r-start combo.  posted_image

It can be done safly. however i found this out after my car jumped into a truck.

Heres what I did

first off you will need to bypass your clutch switch.  this is a switch connected to your clutch pedal that either opens or closes a loop.  on mine i was able to unplus this switch but I would use a relay to do it right.

next i took the neutral ground switch from the alarm and went through my parking break switch (tells if the parking break is up) which then goes to ground.

if you want added security get a magnetic reed switch used on window alarms in houses and mount in in a way so that if you car isnt in neutral the loop will be open.  put this in series with your neutral ground wire that goes to your parking break to ground.

hope this helps
