I have a '98 Boxster with an OEM in-dash CD (Becker 220) and an aftermarket Becker 6-CD changer.  It's a pretty basic sound system with two speakers mounted in the dash and one in each door.  About two months ago, the left speaker in the dash started getting a lot of intermittent noise and static, changing in pitch with engine RPM.  This noise comes and goes with no pattern.

I think its a short or a bad grounding wire but I don't know where the problem is.  Any suggestions on where I should start to look?  Since it only affects one speaker, would the problem likely be with that speaker or could it be a problem at the receiver unit?

Thanks for the assist,
Hack

Look for the grounding wire and make sure there is a good connection to the car and all paint ect. has been scrapped or sanded off

dream it, build it, fiberglass it

You may want to contact the Radioman (link)- they specialize in Becker and 'old-school' Blaupunkt. I'm assuming the dealer just looks at you funny?
