Hey, I have two 10" Kenwood KFCW1025db Subs in my Durango and I have them bridged at 4 Ohms with a small Kenwood KAC626 amp. The rated output of the amp is 150 Watts bridged and the max is 300 Watts bridged. My subs are rated at 250 Watts RMS and 1000Watts Max. I have been looking for a more powerful amp but this little kenwood actually really sounds good and is really pumping these subs even though it is very underpowered for the subs. When I get a new amp (1000 wats max), isnt it going to blow these subs? I mean this little amp really moves these subs, just wonering what more power would do.

Just because you go and buy a "1000 watt" amp doesnt mean its too much power. Thats what the gains are for. You can dial in that amp to match your subs and the rest of your sound system. posted_image

Thats a good point, but that still makes me wonder why my crap amp set at half gain is driving these woofers so well. Maybe the KAC626 amp is secretly a 1000 watt amp...that was dumb I know.

The problem of underpowering is actually caused by clipping of the amp, you can always use a higher output amp, just turn the gains down.
