Just curious but.....can a speaker that's actually hooked up to a headunit that has it's (the speaker) terminals touching the metal of the vehicle drain the battery of that vehicle?

There are 2 types of speaker outputs from the amplifier or output, a floating ground (in which neither wire is at ground potential) and common ground (where one wire from the output is ground. If you shorted one speaker wire to ground in a floating system you will either blow out the output, of you will lose balance and fade control. If you ground a wire in a common ground system you will either blow out the output (if you grounded the hot side) of it will make no difference at all. In either case, there is no power on the wires when the head unit is off. If you are killing your battery, I would look elsewhere.
Here is a tip to find out where the drain is comming from: Disconnect the hot wire on the battery and connect either a digital amp meter is series or a $5 test 12V light. Disconnect one fuse at a time until the light goes out or the current on the meter drops. This will narrow it to which circuit it's in. Once you determine that, it's just a process of elimination. Make sure that you unplug your alternator as the first test, that is sometimes the culprit. Good Luck!
