I have had 3 door switch failures since I bought this Ranger new in '98. It is the most annoying thing. The door ajar light comes on and though there appears to be a timer that shuts off the dome light after about 20 minutes, it's enough to cause battery failure because I never shut off my radar detector. Each replacement has cost about $180. because of labor. The switch is a Motorcraft SW-5528. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for this circuit? Does anyone know if this switch can be by-passed? I am in a fail mode now and I do not want to replace it if I can get around it. Or perhaps there is another, more reliable switch?

Thanks for your help.

Do you have anything wired to the switch?

No, I do not have anything added to this circuit. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for this circuit?
