(Tried a seach here didnt find anything so please bare with a new member if the situation has been covered)

New complete (double amp/7 speakers, sat radio) JL system in a Dodge Hemitruck and was looking to upgrade my batt and cables, unsure which Optima to use---(RED / yellowtop?)---for best results---ive also seen HIGH quality braided clearcoated batt cables and clamps but am unsure who makes them---anyone know?

Thanks, tkop

I do not know about the Braided cable, but I can answer some of your questions about the Optima's.
First, here is a link to Optima's web site:
Optima Batteries

If you are planning on using the battery for both starting and will be using the system when the vehicle is not running, then I would recommend the Optima Yellow Top.

If you are planning on using the system ONLY when the vehicle is running, then I would recommend the Optima Red Top.

If you do not want to worry about the starting battery being drained when you system is being used when the vehicle is NOT running, then I would recommend a Optima Yellow Top battery as a SECOND battery through a battery isolator.
You can find out more information on battery isolators at:
Sure Power Isolators

I hope this helps answer your questions,
Good luck,
Tom

Thanks, the isolater looks like a good idea but my engine bay is alittle tight for a 2nd batt, it might be possible I have a mechanic friend that can assist in that---looks like no matter what I do I want the yellowtop---

The cables ive seen look sorta like GIANT monstercable® but with much better then traditional "bolt thru" type terminal mounts---(they look trick too)

I have 2/0 welding cables for both my ground and positive sides of my battery. I ordered these special for my vehicle but unfortunately the company only makes it for Jeeps. It would be rather easy to make your own - just got to find a welding supply house for the cable. Also JCWhitney sells that cable by the foot in both black and red.
