I have an 82 Monte Carlo Recently my speedometer starting acting up. It only goes up to 45 miles(car is actually going 65mph. When the speedometer is between 40-45mph it starts becomes eratic. When you slow down or stop it does not get lower than 15 mph. I have ti hit the dash to get the speedometer back down to show 0 mph.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Other than the fact that I may get a speeding ticket if my speedometer is not working, will driving the car with a broken speedometer or cable do any damage.
Thanks

nope, i did it with my 79 civic for a long time.   Just say to the cop that it just went out and he'll let you off if you werent goin way too fast....or give you a fix it ticket..

but its really simple to replace and cheap for a new one.   Then you wont have to worry about speeding.
