Hey everyone,

I'm wanting to purchase a multimeter but I need suggestions.  Someone suggested that I get a Fluke 112, but the cheapest I've found them is about $160.  I went by Sears yesterday and they have some, their top model being about $100.

Does anyone have any other recommedations?  Is there something that I should look for in every MM?

Thanks in advance.

Chimp

Fluke makes the best DMMs you're likely to find really.
Radio Shack has one or two good models at the top end.
things to look for or consider:
PC-Interface
True-RMS (AC voltage)
Resistance circuit value (20Mega-Ohm or so)
Capacitance tester
Transistor tester
Frequency generator
signal generator
continuity tone
Probes using standard banana plugs for easy switching of probes and probe-tips (wire piercing, gator clips, etc)
things like that
you also want one with a very large, easy to read display.. preferably backlit if possible (Indiglo would be nice heh) so it's easy to read when you're up to your shoulders under a dash trying to get wire value readings
Impact resistance is good too
