I wasnt too sure where to put this thread, so im putting it here.  the other day, i took my dash apart (92 saturn SC) to see the wiring, and if anything needed to be relpaced to fixed, because my radio has been going in and out, but i fixed that, and its not the point. anyway, i got under the steering column and noticed this weird clear box with a circuit inside of it, zip-stripped to the steering column, i followed the wires, but they led to a harness up more in the dash.  i would have taken it apart and tried to figure out what it is, but i didnt want to rip all the wiring apart if someone here knew what it was, theres also a switch hidden behind the wire harness that hangs driver side right near th door, i found that when its on, the starter wont work, so i think that box is a starter-kill, but if anyone else has an idea, please post, i really dont want to rip it apart

It sounds like it may be a shock sensor for an alarm system. If it's a used car take it to some stereo shop to see if you can get a remote for it and use the alarm.

If you bought the car used, the previous owner/dealer may have removed the main alarm module for some reason and left the rest of the alarm componenets. Is their an LED mounted still in the car? That would be a good indicator of an alarm. If the clear box is a functioning shock sensor it probably has an LED inside of it that will light up if hit. It would also have a trim pot on it. (a little screw head that turns)

well, i checked, it doesnt light up when hit, theres no LED in it, or a trim pot, but from what i figure its a very nice starter interrupt, the switch, when its turned on while the key is turned to ignition, will engage, and when the car is turned off and the door is shut, a little LED in the wiring harness next to the drivers door blinks, then after about 30 seconds it turns off, when the door is open after that, the light blinks again, and theres a beeping sound and you cant start the car unless u turn the switch off.  i wasnt able to follow all the wires, they went too far up into the dash, and i dont want to take it all apart, since its so cold out.  but when i cut the power lead, it doesnt work anymore
