Hello. I am going to purchase a 1995 Ford Ranger standard cab short bed pretty soon. Right now it just has the factory AM/FM stereo cassette in it, and all the factory speakers.
I would like to put in a new reciever with a single in-dash CD player, one of the subwoofer boxer that is made for pickups that fits behind the seat, and probably an amp.
I would like to spend about $400-450 dollars. I kinda like the Sony Xplod stuff, I have one of their recievers in my other car.
Any suggestions on what would be good for this vehicle in that price range?

wow..this is odd...i have a 96 ranger standard cab, sony xplod head unit, one sub behind the passenger seat and an amp behind the drivers seat.  hahah..  anyways..ive been happy with my head unit for about a year (even though now the faceplate connections are getting dirty... https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=2342 hehe) but i kinda wish i would have stuck with xplod for the rest of my audio stuff (i have a lightning audio sub and pionner amp....YEAH..I KNOW! STOP LAUGHING! posted_image)

xplod stuff is decent for the price but probably wont win ya any compitions..but i would stick with it so you can stay in the price range you are looking at.  take care.

ummm........depends on how much cash you wanna fork out.............................

I've had a 99, and my friend had a 95........both were standard cabs, both had killer sounding systems in them......

one idea, is what we did with mine ( since I leased it ).  We put in a kenwood headunit, MTX components in the doors, the MTX thunder 6000 convertibles I think we used the T6.5 or 6.6's....can't remember...and we put a self amplified MTX thunderform behind the drivers side seat.  We also through a kenwood Cd changer in it....

in his, we put three MTX thunder 4000 8's in a down firing box behind the pass. seat, same type of speaks in the doors.  But he used an Eclipse head unit, and an MTX 225 HO amp for the subs, and a 250X for the doors....amps were mounted behind the drivers side seat, as was the 1 farad cap, and the LSB1 crossover by MTX ( which I believe is disconitinued now)....only downfall was that the pass. seat had to be slid forwards at all time...but it sounded great!!

Give me time and I'm sure I can come up with more ideas
