Can someone point me in the right direction please ?  I'm trying to wire a Clarion CD player into a 4 runner.  I've got sound in the fronts, but cannot for the life of me get sound in the rears.  I thought by using an add on wiring harness the job would be a cinch.  Do the rear speakers have a built in amp of some sort, if so, could my trouble be in the remote turn on wire in the plug/ harness.

I think the harness that you are using has two remote lines on it but the clarion deck only has one, find out which one is putting out power and join the other one onto it, make sure you disconnect the one that isn't used from the deck. Let me know how you go.

Is there one or two wire harnesses plugged into the back of the factory head unit?

There are two harnesses to the factory head unit.   It sems to be in the remote lead.  I don't understand though why the remote is hooked up, if there is no amp or anything hooked up to the new deck ?

I think that the back speakers are amplified. The speaker wires for the rear are on the smaller of the two plugs and I'm pretty sure that the amps for the speakers are built into the rear speaker enclosures.

The rear speakers are amplified, I spoke to a Toyota tech today.  The remote pins on the aftermarket plug are jumper wired together, as there is two remote on the factory harness.  Connecting the remote off the stock plug to the aftermarket remote line, and boom, just like that the rear speakers work fine.  This little job has sure made me a little smarter.  Thanks all for your help !!!
