i guys this is my problem i have a 87 grandnational with 2 12 inch audiobahn 1200x speakers in a 1.4 cu box each chamber and i have the hooked up to a 1 ohm load to my jbl 1200.1 amp if i put my kicker crossover on 80hz i get some bass but nothing major but when i turn up the bass boost that is a 45hz i get some louder bass what i want to know is there any way that i could get more spl without the 45hz bass boost because it makes the bass muddy what do i need to buy to get nice strong bass at about 75 to 80 hz i want it very loud this amp puts out 1200 watts rms into a 1 ohm load and the speakers are 700 watts rms each i feel like i have just wasted my money i want it to sound as good as it would inside of a truck really strong and clear
Firstly the audiobahns are the worst sounding sub, that could be mostly part of the problem. Ported box will open up some spl, but expence of SQ.
Many here say eclipse subs are excellent all around, and hit hard. Cheaper sub would be Bramha, or a elemental designs 12inch. even cheaper..but more to the SQ side would be the adire audio shiva. These will work with that amp.
But...need to know the mounting depths before anyone of us recommends subs, if you want to replace them, you could always sell them on ebay..or to a friend.
If you really dont have the cash to spend, try moving the position of the box and mess with the settings on the head unit.
