I am currently installing an Autopage RF650 alarm with remote start, on a 2000 Ford Ranger, do I have to use a transponder for this application or am I in luck with this add on junk?? I am pretty sure I do, but I would appreciate any input or experiences. Thanks in advance.

If you have the big key, it will have a transponder chip...if you have the smaller key with only a thin plastic cover...you may be in the clear.
