i have a command start cs2400 on a 1997 ford f150 pickup.  when i open the hood the lights to not come on -- i'm trying to program a new transmitter and the lights do not come on when i open the hood.  worked fine until i lost the transmitter.

Find the hood pin switch under the hood, they tend to corrode over time and do not provide a good ground.

Try lifting gently and rotating it to clean it up a bit, or remove it and clean it.

You can also pull the wire off the bottom of it and touch it to ground, but the switch it a saftey device and should

be repaired.

Thanks!!!! that worked.        I need wiring directions so if I wanted to change this unit to a different vechile I could and also the book says some features have to be programmed by a professional installer.  Where can you get these instructions?  Any help would be appreciated.

you should use a mercury switch instead of a hood pin as well. they rarely go bad
