im gettin a new system shipped up. I forgot to buy a cap with it. I live in canada, and dont want to put in another order, because of shipping costs, and where i live, all good caps are like 150+. london drugs has some i think, so would a cheap cap do? im not looking for anything fancy, just something to keep my alternator from completely dying. O ya, and im gettin a hifonics bx1000d and 2 pg ti10d's, just so u know the load i will be putting on my neon (its a basic car to, no a/c, power windows, locks, etc). Thanks

You should get a 1 farad cap. You only get what you pay for. Make sure that the cap is rated for the correct voltage up to 16 volts for safety.

A cap won't keep your alternator from dying, if your alt is too small, you will need to replace that with a higher amperage one. As far as caps go, my feeling is that there are none that are "that much" better than another <shrug>. 1 farad would work fine, although I don't particularly think you will need a cap at all =/ ~Jay
