Aftermarket computer chip will disable the rev limiter and shouldn't cause anything bad to happen except that there is a slight chance that you may over rev the engine if you don't watch your tach. I twill also give more HP and better fuel mileage which is good with todays gas prices. One will ste you back $100 to $1000 depending on how much HP you want and the type of car. Try superchips.com.

I can understand wanting to disable the speed limiter (called a governor I believe), but what would be the purpose of disabling the rev limiter? unless you have done some engine work to enable the car to handle higher rpm's, what do you drive and have you modified the engine?

the only thing bad will happen is you'll blow up your engine.  the rev limiter is there to avoid blowing your engine up. the govenor is there to control your speed not your rpms.
