I realize that everyone on the face of the planet will tell you that the tweeters of a component set should be ounted close to the driver. I was just curious if this was a misconception. I wanted to mount my tweeters in the a-pillers of my truck and the driver in the door. I have an alpine pxa-h701 which has auto time correction to each channel. If i mount the tweeters in the a-pillers and use the time correction will that give me the soundstage i am looking for or will there be a gap in the frequency responce having the tweeter that far from the driver?
Well it depends. I cant rember if that model has a db drop control. If it does that will help. Thou I have never mounted tweets on a "A" piller (and a "B" piller in one case) and thought it sounded good. Most of the time they will scream at you. You can tune some of it out. But there will be a hole in the stage. The "time correction" will help to have a cleaner sound. But wont fix the hole in the sound.

Also, depends on the kind of tweeter. I know some brands like MB Quart, are designed to have the best sound at a 30 degree offset i think. Meaning they will sound worse pointed right at you. Just a thought you might wanna look into.
