I just hooked up some new lights in my car, and i hooked them to the power antenna wire in my stereo so they turn off with the car, but after i got some heat from the 5-0, i figured i need to hook a switch to these lights so i can turn them off without turning off the stereo. i just need a switch that cuts the positive wire in half so it breaks the circuit when i turn it off. all the toggle switches i looked at have a negative, positive, and an acc. what kind of a switch do i need to just do the whole single wire thing? thanks.

A plain ole toggle switch should work just fine. Keep in mind that if you were looking at a lighted one its gonna have extra terminals to run the light in the switch. I suspect thats what you were looking at. Good luck
if the switches have pos and neg then you are looking at spdt switches. what you need are spst switches

What kind of lights are you hooking up? Most switches of this type cannot pass enough current and will heat up and melt. This means that unless things are fused (you did fuse these wires didn't you?) you can expect a wire meltdown and the potential damage that it causes.
If you are hooking up fog lights or even undercar neons, it is always best to use a switch to toggle a relay to allow the lights to be used properly and safely. Post up what you have and we can go through a wiring diagram for you.
