Im preparing to take the mecp test and was wondering if there are any other classes or certifications they may be helpful in landing a job in this field?
I love doing this kind of work and have been working on friends cars since i was 16. I have general knowledge of electronics and consider myself mechanically inclined.
I just think it's time i start making money doing something i love to do anyway, I am just trying to find the best way to approach entering the car audio field and any training can't hurt.
Also does anyone know where i can get the study guide for mecp free?

Yes and no. It is the only industry wide certification. You can also be manufacturer certified. No place to find the study guide for free.

what he's talking about is when Alpine or some other MFG. comes to your store and the rep trains the staff on installation or operation of thier stuff.

Yup, you get a cool little certificate. I have one for alpine, kenwood, and DEI/Viper.
