I'm sure some of you shop owners sell wholesale brands.

My question is what kind of return policy do you have in place for installed or non-installed sales of these wholesale brands?

installed comes with 1 year with reciept and appears to be un-tampered with, you can purchase a 2 year, not installed, no warranty. there a lot of idiots who hook things up wrong and blow things. some take chances, i dont.

Thanks for the input, JC.

At first, I really wanted to stand by everything I sold...especially installed sales.  But i'm having stupid problems with stuff...like the IR repeater on an indash AM/FM/TV tuner monitor just quits working (after 4 months).  I've got other Flip-Down CD players that just quit ejecting CDs for no problems and skipping like crazy when it does play CDs.  And these are on installed sales...so the customer comes back pissed at me saying the install was incorrect.  I try not to take offense b/c as a customer, I know that is what it appears to them.  But it's just kinda frustrating seeing dumb stuff like this go wrong.  (And yes, the dash kits on the skipping CD players were installed properly and firmly.)

I've noticed most of the retailers in my kind of venue have very little if any product warranty.  We've since shrunk ours from a 90-day uninstalled sales/1 year installed sales warranty all the way down to a 30-day uninstalled sales/90-day installed sales warranty.  And I'm getting even more tempted to shrink it down below that.

I'm also thinking of getting away from the Sound Around/Anaba Group wholesale brands and perhaps start including less know wholesale brands like maybe Obcon, MA Audio, Tview, etc.  Don't know if I'll experience any more quality control shortcomings in their products, but I don't know if I can keep taking these other wholesale brands factory f-ups on the chin.

And we've finally went to the policy I absolutely wanted to avoid:  NO CASH REFUNDS.  I had the utopic thought that every thing we sold...especially installed sales, would make the customer overwhelmingly pleased on the price/performance front.  But thanks to some unforseen product defects, this cannot be the case.  And people are wanting cash refunds and that just simply cannot happen.  We're too small a retailer to issue out refunds like the larger chain stores.

i have done car audio for years i and i have quit dealing with these "off-names" like MA authority and pyramid and lanzar, since pyramid bought lanzar out.i am now selling lightning audio, kenwood, panasonic, cerwin vega, audiobahn, fosgate, kicker and audio control.i wanna stick with the good stuff.but i know they too can cause problems.thats why i have a 30 day installed warrenty and no uninstalled warrenty,if they install it,i do a bench test to show them it works and then if it tears up they have to deal with the company that makes it.works for me.

if i can't make it sound good, then it is just a piece of crap anyway
