i have a digital clamp meter handy...but i don't have the slightest idea how to use it, could someone explain it to me, so I could check my currents to my amp?

open the clamp up and put it around the hot wire,and make sure its on DC volts.

Actually, you will set the meter to DC Amps. You will also set the meter to the highest amperage range first, unless you know the current going through the system.

Starting from the highest current level will capture and ensure proper reading and protect the meter.

Please remember that the actual meter must have fresh batteries, otherwise the reading(s) will flutuate and be inaccurate.
