Ok, i have my front battery ran to a 100amp circuit breaker, which runs to the rear battery.  Then the rear battery wires to a 140 amp circuit breaker which runs to a solenoid for my compressors.   All ran with 4 guage wires (+ & -).  My question is: which size wire is best for running two batteries, and what size breakers should i be using?

As for wiring size, you should probably be using at least 1/0 wiring to the back. As for the circuit breaker, that depends on the load you are carrying accross the wire. Too small and it is alway poppin, too big and you have a fire.
