We  have have a suburban and a Pathfinder that i tow things with. the pathfinder has a 4 pin connector, and the suburban has round 5-pin connector. i want to hook the suburban up so it has the existing round connector and wire in a 4-pin.

  • the 4-pin connector has: a white, a green, a yellow, and a brown
  • the round has: yellow, green, 2 brown, blue, and orange

what wires would correspond on the round with the 4 wires from the 4-pin?

(ps. i tried to use an adapter but it shorted out and caught on fire, and didn't even work right)

Universal wiring color code -- The normal trailer wire colors will be white, brown, green, & yellow.
      White --   Ground
      Brown --  Tail lights
      Green --   Right hand directional
      Yellow --  Left hand directional

5-wire systems provide all the color coded functions of the 4-pole systems plus an additional blue wire which may be used for Hydraulic disc brakes or auxiliary lights.
