I've got a '97 Acura Integra GSR

The SRS light is on. i was adjusting the antenna of my alarm... i turned on the car and the SRS light came on. the only thing i can think what might of happened is... i hit one of the wires by the SRS relays, so i took out the 3 plugs of the relas and checked them, then installed them back... the SRS light is STILL on. i looked in my Chitlon book and it says there is a MEMORY on the SRS,,,

what should i do? can i clear the memory and see if the problem was fixed? or what else can i do to figure out the problem?

yes there is a memory test connector under the dash somewhere. it has 2 pins and plugs into a blank port you can just unplug all the srs plugs til you find this one with no pins in it. then what you need to do is get a short jumper wire to insert into those 2 terminals. before you insert them turn ignition to run insert wire then turn off ignition and then back to run remove wire and light should be out . or if you feel better you can order part #07paz-0010100 from your honda dealer and use that. the connector your looking for should be blue . this is what hona told me to do and it worked on an oddysey that i tripped the srs light when i installed a remote strart on it honda tech told me that they are very sensitive the srs computers.good luck

ok, i did this perfectly... the light does go off, but about 5 seconds later the light will come back on!   what should i do now?   i also tried waiting until the light went off then turned off the ignition and wait for a minute then turn the ignition back on but the light WILL STILL come back on!

Any ideas on what to do now??????

i did an install in a passport about 5 years ago and i was testing for a horn wire for the alarm . i was using a dmm and tripped the srs light and we ended up having to replace a front sensor in the car the one behind the grill . it was really weirdthat i tested the 3 wires going to the clockspring with a dmm and it damaged a sensor not the cpu of the srs . i would never have believed it if i didnt see it but thats what it did , and knowing how sensitive the srs's are in the honda line they all get sirens now . sounds like you may need to go to acura. good luck.

if it is a memory it needs power to stay recorded disconnect the negative side of bat for like 10 minutes 5 at least everything in the car will reset and you dont have to worry about air bags or anything . try this let me know post back or email me at djfearny2@aol.com

I like the idea of disconnecting the vehicle battery, I would do it for a longer period of time...say an hour or so.  I have cleared out many false warning lights over the years by simply disconnecting the battery and allowing the vehicle computer to reset itself.  If the light continues to come on....and your 100% sure that you have not accidentaly disconnected something or left something unplugged (Happens to all of honest installers at least once in our lives).....then and only then you should probally take it to a dealer and have your vehicle scanned for possible problems....to be sure that you havent caused a problem that could be a safety hazard  for you,  or anyone else riding in your car.

I spoke to the Honda technician and they say that you have to bring it into the shop and they can reset the light through the data port they have. If there is other ways of doing this he does not know.

alright guys...... first i'm going to try the battery disconect for a bit more then an hour (as Radiodr suggests) and i will also disconnect the 2 harnesses for the SRS under the dash (as djfearny suggests) and if STILL this is'nt solved, i'll take it to honda over the weekend and have them reset it in the data port.   and i will let you all know the results asap!

thanks again !!!!!!!!

rapture,

Have you taken the vehicle to the dealer yet? if so was he able to reset it? and how much did they charge.  I ask b/c we have a 01 accord we did keyless entry on and the srs light is coming on with it too.  Thanks for the help.

So, how did this story end? How much the dealer charged?

I have same problem, installed remote starter on Honda Accord 2001, SRS light now stays on.

Can try this:

Also, To get the warning light to go off, it must be reset with a computer-scanning tool.  An independent automobile repair facility or a dealer has the equipment to do this.

Thanks. I'll try to find the connector as it indicated in the link, but it is for Civic, and I have a problem with Accord. Do you know if it will work for Accord as well? Thanks!

Try the DIY at 2k1civic.com.  I have used this procedure several times on my 2K2 Accord EX.  The SRS light will trigger for things like removing your seats and unplugging the SRS harnesses beneath them.  Also removing the gauge cluster and unplugging harnesses.  I am absolutely certain this procedure works for 6th gen Accords.  I posted a DIY with some pics at superhonda.com.  Not certain it would work for an Integra but it just might.

well... i called honda and they wanted $100 to check the SRS,,, and said it's posibaly at LEAST $200 for a new sensor if that is the problem...

so no, i didnt have them fix it, and i still have the SRS light on.

I'll see if i can do this DIY technique this weekend... HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK! thanks everyone!!!!!

BTW, post if it worked for you too :)

YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

It worked!!!!!!!!

After months with that damn SRS light on... the DIY Site for the Civic (as posted above) worked for my Integra also...  the only diffrence was... it did not blink twice.... it just turned off the light all togeather and would not come back on wether you put the jumper back in or not.

Then after it has stopped comming on... turn the ignition off... wait a minute.... then turn it back on, the SRS light should come on for a few seconds then go OFF (like it should!)

Thanks everyone!

Yes. It worked for me too using this:

The only difference instead of plain wires I used the same program switch that came with remote starter :)

Thanks k67p67!!!
