I just bought a cheap Lanzar stereo to replace the stock one in my '90 bmw. After hooking everything up and taking her for a spin I noticed a wierd noise coming from just the back speakers. The noise increased and decreased as my rpms went up and down. I could hear it weather the volume was up or down and it almost sounds like my speakers (back ones only) are picking up my engine noise or something. If I'm just idiling then there is no humming sound but there is still a faint crackling. If the engine is off the sound is great. I already checked the ground wire and the speaker connections. Help please.....

Check to see if you have absolute ground in your system in comparison to your HU and your amplifier as well as the RCA location.

firstly check if your BMW has a factory amp in the boot- behind panel on righthand side.
If so, you should only need to hook up one pair of speaker wires from the head unit- use the front ones. The BMW's factory fader control will split the output to the front and rear speakers.
If you still have noise, and have the factory BMW amp in the rear, you have two options- remove and fully rewire all the speakers from the factory amp. Or purchase a low power stereo instead og a high power unit. Or, find a replacement BMW factory unit.
I have a similar year 535, and it did have the factory amp.
