Folks,
I just installed a 5 channel Alpine amp in my girlfriend's 96 Civic and it works really great. But there is one problem, when she steps on the brakes, she hears a popping noise in the speakers. I am assuming it has to do something with the amp ground and the brake lights, but how do I get rid of it? I tried moving the ground connection from the amp to different spots but it didn't change anything. Is there a preferred grounding spot in the trunk of a 96 civic?
Any ideas???
thanks,
-greg
get a 16v 0.47 mfd capacitor and put it across the output side of brake and ground. That was GM's fix for the brake pops.

Yeah im what you would call technically challenged, but i have the same problem in my system. Can u clarify what u mean by putting it across the out put side of brake and ground.
Thank
Chris
what he means is take the output wire in the driver side kick panel and cut it once than use connectors to add one side of the two wire capasitor and connect it to each side of the wire tape up with electrical tape and you should be ok . the cap should absorb the pop but if not diodes may help i dont know never had that problem with that car or amps.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
Are the RCA's run on the opposite side of the car as the power wire/battery/brakes? It should be.
YES generally you run power wire onn drivers side of car with all of the wires going to back and rca on passanger car with remote wire , this deminishes alot of any cars engine noizes.
